Is Observed an Assessment?

Your assessor will provide feedback against the ICF competencies and PCC markers.

Vocational Students
You will be given feedback against the ICF Competencies and ACC markers.

Professional and Advanced Professional Students
You will be given feedback against the ICF competencies and PCC markers.

Sometimes the Trainer will wait until the end of your session, and sometimes they will stop the recording to isolate a specific competency or coaching skill.  Whichever way they do it, the sole purpose of the session is to help you identify areas for improvement in your coaching and give you actionable strategies to go away and practice before you come back the following week with a new recording.

Can I Fail Observed?

Upon completion of Observed you will be provided with overall feedback that will be helpful in preparing and submitting your final oral exam.

If the assessor consider you are LIKELY to Pass the Oral exam, then you will continue on to complete your performance evaluation.

If the assessor considers you are NOT LIKELY to Pass the Oral Exam, further development will be recommended.

Who is the Client?

You get to choose who you coach, with most students choosing to coach the same client for all 5 sessions (but you don’t have to).

The main requirement is that you have a client that is coachable, and who is available to you for the time required and set deadlines.

What is the Lab Format?

Each Observed Coaching class consists of 3 different student coaching sessions.

For the Coach…you will bring a pre recorded coaching session to share with the class.

For the Observers…you will bring your peer observation sheet and use it to make note of the use of the ICF competencies and markers, and any tools or techniques you feel might be useful in your own coaching practice.
