Chinese Language Program Q & A

On September the 8th, Robyn Logan (ICA CEO & Founder), Viya Chen (Chief Strategy Officer ASIA) and Min Liu (Chinese Student Support) organized a Q&A to answer questions from students in the Chinese Language Program.

OC旁聽受益很多,既然OC旁 聽者是不能發言的,是什麼考量要限制參加旁聽的次數呢?

观察下的教练和教练辅导班与核心课程班不同。 理想情况下,学生只参加一次基础课堂学习,但我们很灵活没有硬性规定,允许学员们多 次参加基础课的学习。 但是,观察下的教练和教练辅导课上,学生不能参加无限次。

SALLYS TRANSLATION / EXPLANATION +

Each program has a set number of hours and is priced accordingly. In the case of the Certified program it is 125 hours.  In this there is core curriculum (theory), Labs (to practice) and evaluations (Mentor Coaching and Observed Coaching).

Whilst it is expected that students only attend each class once, we are flexible with the core curriculum classes and coaching labs.  If students need to attend more than once they can.  This means that class numbers will vary and could be anything from 10 to 30 students.

Mentor Coaching and observed coaching are assessment and evaluation classes.  They are an intimate learning space with a higher level of one on one activity and learning. For that reason we keep these class numbers low and ask that students only attend the allocated number.

Definitely. We can add more Coaching labs for more Stop the clock practice. Our program is extremely flexible. We open classes based on student’s learning demand. That’s why we have increased the labs. We welcome our students to write to our support team via support@coachcampus.com where we can monitor the learning demand from our students. Once there is a need for a type of class, we organize the learning space.

As to limiting 5 times OC observer role, it’s because the OC course has its own structure. Its nature is to support and ready our students for the final exam meeting the ICF competency requirements. TOPIC - PEER COACHING

QUESTION

I’m having trouble to locate my peer’s profile page on the forum.

ANSWER

Locating a peer in the forum takes three steps:

1. Search the student's name
2. Locate the profile
3. Save the page link.

When you encounter any issue on the forum, please also write to our support team via support@coachcampus.com instead of asking about the how-to on Wechat. Once we receive student’s email to support, we can answer it. Also, when we see a number of students writing to support about the same issue, we can see a pattern of the problem. Then we can create some training and information around the problem. This way later on other students can find the answer in the knowledge base without needing to ask.

Regarding the forum, we would like to invite all students to use it. Many global organizations establish a platform for members to be part of. Our Forum is ICA’s platform for all students to access. We would like to promote our forum to make sure all of our students have the equal access to all the resources we provide.

TOPIC - NEW ICF COMPETENCIES

QUESTION

Will the OC follow the new ICF competencies in January next year?

ANSWER

ICA has been closely following ICF’s changes for 20 years. We make sure our program reflects any changes ICF makes. So far ICF has updated the core competencies but they haven’t updated the PCC markers yet. Our OC course will take the new PCC markers as the assessment guidance as soon as ICF releases it.

I would like to know if ICA has any plan of partnering with external organizations such as colleges / communities to give more resources for ICA students (who passed OC and exam) to practice coaching with "real" clients?

ANSWER

We want to focus on what we do best. That is coaching education. Partnering with external organizations involves in many considerations including establishing agreement. So it’s not on our plan to partner with external organizations. However, there are many platforms available for coaches to practice coaching with "real" clients. The platform such as https://coachingforeveryone.org/ and https://www.coachactivism.org/ are recommended. Coaches are welcomed to register as volunteers to practice with “real” clients.
